Kliment Shapkarev’s participation in some of the most significant congresses of IMARO in the post-Ilinden period, namely in the Rila Congress of 1905, the Consultative Assembly of 1907 and the Kyustendil Congress of 1908, as well as the congress of the Adrianople Revolutionary District in 1908, placed him in importance alongside the most prominent names in the Organization. His work in these congresses gave him the opportunity to contact the IMARO leaders, as well as some of the most significant figures of the revolutionary movement in Macedonia and the Adrianople region, and to share ideas and thoughts about the results and future activities. This shows that in the years after the Ilinden Uprising, Shapkarev grew up from a leading activist of the Adrianople Organization to a figure of national importance, without whom no significant undertaking of the Organization could take place.
