This text problematizes the authorship of the most significant program for Albanian national revival named “Albania – what it was, what it is and what it will be”.
It is widely considered that the Program was written by the prominent revivalist Sami Frashëri, but this article argues that there is a substantial possibility for another person being its creator or even for a joint authorship. For the purpose we use logical and linguistic arguments. The logical ones consist of exposing the overall features of the literary, cultural and political activity of Sami Frashëri himself and of another revivalists, in order to outline the contradictions between some ideas for Albania`s future proclaimed in the Program and their own views.
As linguistic arguments we use an analysis of the connectors in the Program and a comparison between it and texts of notable revivalists including Frashëri. Our discourse does not claim perfection in this field of study but poses several new questions on the topic as well as attempts to establish a base for similar future investigations.
