The study seeks to explore, present and analyze the gradual formation and refinement of the idea of raising IMARO as a factor that not only disciplined its members but also reversed the perceptions of the Bulgarian Christian population in Macedonia and Edirne Thrace in relation to their hygiene and sanitary habits.
In this respect, the institution-building of the Organization itself is of utmost importance, without it its disciplinary policy is impracticable.
Through instructions and regulated norms, IMARO deeply penetrated the life of the population in order to change it and make people aware of the vital need for health and hygiene measures.
