The article examines photographs taken in 1903 during the Ilinden
Uprising by British photographers and correspondents in various
periodicals.
In the following years, many of these photographs were
used as illustrative material for books on the Balkans published in
the United Kingdom.
Based on the comments to the illustrations by
the authors, it is convincingly shown that the Slavic population in the
region of Macedonia, the revolutionary movement there, as well as the
Ilinden Uprising itself were considered Bulgarian.
