The paper focuses on the developments of Common Slavic *tj/ktj and *dj/gdj in four villages that belong to the southwestern part of the geographic area of Macedonia, now in the territory of present-day Greece.
The archaic dialects in these villages, evolving in a relatively small but isolated area, demonstrate certain specifics that distinguish them from other southwestern Bulgarian (Macedonian) dialects and from each other.
Some of these developments are not encountered in any of the standard modern Slavic languages, but are present in the Glagolitic tradition of Old Church Slavonic (Old Bulgarian), while others are characteristic of the Cyrillic tradition of Old Church Slavonic and the modern Bulgarian language.
