(Abstract)
This presentation is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of Anton Popstoilov (folklorist, teacher, editor and director of the National Ethnographic Museum in Sofia, founder of the Macedonian Scientific Institute).
His many years of teaching practice and scientific tours around vast regions, mainly in Macedonia and Edirne region, allowed him to collect and systematize a precious fund of folklore, linguistic, ethnographic material in the context of Bulgarian ethnic culture. The text tells the story of an unusual discovery containing photographs, telegrams, letters, made by local historian Stefan Royachki from the village of Leshko and donated to the Regional Museum of History – Blagoevgrad.
The documents reveal the wide professional and public response that the anniversary celebration of A. Popstoilov's 30 years of scientific and educational activity received. They also complement his image of a diligent and conscientious researcher of folk antiquities.
