BETWEEN 9 JUNE 1923 AND 31 AUGUST 1924
Kaloyan Vassev
(Summary)
The article examines the political positions and influence of prominent
leader of the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization
(IMRO) Todor Aleksandrov between 9 June 1923 (the Military coup
against the Bulgarian Agrarian National Union – BANU) and 31
August 1924 (the murder of Todor Aleksandrov). After the signing of
the May Manifesto between the IMRO and the Comintern on 6 May
1924, which marks the breaking point in the political positions of
Todor Aleksandrov, they quickly deteriorated and led to his demise
in Pirin. The article traces the dynamics between Aleksandrov and his
peers and subordinates in the IMRO, the legal Macedono-Bulgarian
organizations, the governing factors in Sofia and the Comintern, and
outlines the mechanisms set in motion by these factors once the May
Manifesto was signed.
